L’Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Mask: The Review

This is a special post. I want to steer away from writing beauty reviews because there are already great beauty blogs out there. Although I really like fashion and beauty, I am (trying) to live a minimalist lifestyle. The KonMari lifestyle. To only own things that bring happiness to your life. I won’t elaborate on KonMari method right now. The point is I don’t want to do beauty reviews because I do not want to buy and test out beauty products which I won’t use. On the daily basis, I use basic make up products – my favorite Bobbi Brown eyebrow pencil & concealer. I use foundation, loose powder, blush and eyeliner if I go out on weekends or if I travel out of town. As for skincare – cleanser, toner, moisturizer, serum & sunscreen during daytime. I don’t buy skincare or cosmetics unless I need it.

So why this review?

A few months ago, I placed an order with Feelunique to stock up on my usual beauty products. When you purchase a certain amount on the site, you will be offered free beauty samples. There will be a few choices for you to choose. At that purchase, I chose the L’Oréal Paris Clay Mask in Charcoal – by mistake. During the selection, I thought this mask is a sheet mask. If I knew that it is a clay mask, I would not have chosen it because I like hassle free beauty routine. I don’t like masks which required to be washed off afterwards. I am a fan of sheet masks. No washing needed. To cut the story short, I got this clay mask by mistake but I tried it on anyhow but I had no expectation.

SURPRISE!

My skin type: dry, tired and dull. I have not been taking good care of my skin. Truthfully I sleep with my make up still on my face sometimes. Those are my super lazy days. On my lazy days, I clean my face with my favourite Bioderma Micellar Water and off to bed I go. I know such lazy routines are very hurtful to my skin especially at my age. And it does show on my face.

On one fateful evening, I was feeling rather hardworking, took out the free sample mask and applied it on my face. It took about 10-15 minutes and I washed the mask off with warm water. To my surprise, the result was immediate. I was impressed to see my face in the mirror. I look fresh and bright.

I fell in love the mask at that moment. Last week, I bought two jars of these clay mask in full sized. There are three types of clay mask from L’Oréal Paris. I bought one in Charcoal and one in Red Algae.

So, the reason I am writing this review is because the masks are effective.

THE REVIEW

3 Pure Clays and Red Algae.

According to L’Oréal Paris, this mask exfoliates dead skin cells, unclogs and tightens pores. This mask is suppose to smooth the surface of your skin and minimize your pores.

Verdict: I don’t see a significant difference of my skin after using this mask. However, my skin does feel softer.

Update: 5 hours after using the mask, I checked my face in the mirror and noticed my pores has gotten smaller and my face indeed smoother. I guess this Red Algae mask does what it claims.

3 Pure Clays and Charcoal.

This mask is for dull and tired-looking skin. It claims to draw out dust and pollution from your pores making your skin bright and clean.

Verdict: This is a mask I can vouch for. The first time I applied this mask, I can see a visible difference on my skin. I look bright and my skin felt very clean. I put this mask on Herr Hallo and we could see that the dirt from his pores especially nose are drawn out. Not entirely but that area looks significantly cleaner. Herr Hallo approves of this mask too.

END NOTES

I really appreciate that Herr Hallo did not hesitate helping me test out the masks. Although the Red Algae did not perform as well as the Charcoal’s, we are both glad that we have a little wellness in our own home. We had fun applying mask on each other. We had some good laughs and funny pictures. We agree that we should do facials every Sunday. Facials bring couples closer.
